Our Story

A family craft.
A continuing legacy.

Our family's jewellery-making tradition began in pre-Partition India, where our predecessors served as royal jewellers to the Nawabs. After Partition, they brought that craft to Pakistan, carrying their skills and dedication into a new chapter.

The support of generations of customers has brought us to the Sunar Collection of today: a luxury jewellery outlet serving Islamabad since 1993. Their trust gives us both a foundation and a responsibility.

Our purpose is to strengthen confidence in jewellers and jewellery, and help people express their individuality through gems and design. We believe in welcoming everyone, openly explaining materials and pricing, and practising fair business that contributes to our community's prosperity.

Our Approach

Made with precision.
Designed to endure.

We understand that jewellery may one day become a family heirloom. That possibility shapes the care we give to its construction, stone setting and finish.

Generations of skill, precision tools

We combine our family's craft with modern equipment, from pneumatic engravers and Swiss-made files to precision stone-setting tools and specialised polishing equipment. These support careful work at every stage, from shaping and engraving to setting and the final finish.

Design with intention

Proportion, balance and colour theory guide our choices. We consider the relationship between gemstones, metal and form, so each detail contributes to a coherent design and your personal expression.

XRF-Verified Purity

Each batch is checked by laboratory fire assay; finished pieces are XRF-tested at multiple points.

Separate Stone Weight

Stones are weighed before setting, then their recorded weight is deducted from the finished piece.

Purity Checks

Checked as a batch.
Checked as a piece.

We verify gold purity at two stages: when a batch is produced and when the jewellery is complete. Each check serves a different purpose, giving us a more thorough view of the gold we use.

A test button for each batch

With every production batch, we deliberately cast a separate gold test button. This sample undergoes laboratory fire assay to verify the batch's gold content.

XRF checks at multiple points

The finished jewellery is tested using X-ray fluorescence (XRF) at several points, rather than relying on a single reading. This helps us check that the karat is consistent across the tested areas of the piece.

Measured Before Setting

How we separate
gold and stone weight.

Excluding stone weight should be based on a measurement. At Sunar Collection, we weigh the stones before they are set and record their actual weight. We then deduct that recorded weight from the weight of the finished piece to calculate its gold weight.

  1. Weigh the stones

The stones are weighed separately before setting.

  2. Weigh the finished piece

The complete jewellery is weighed after setting and finishing.

  3. Calculate the gold weight

The recorded stone weight is deducted from the finished piece's total weight. Gold is charged using the resulting gold weight.

Why the method matters

Guessing a stone's weight after it has been set cannot establish its exact weight. The weight of an unfinished mount alone does not account for changes during setting and finishing. We use the measured stone weight and the completed piece's weight, so the deduction is traceable. When gemstone weight is charged at the gold rate, you can pay far more for that weight than the stones themselves warrant. Keeping the weights separate makes the basis of our pricing clear.

Coloured Gemstones
